Get affordable medical aid cover with the Ingwe Option. It’s great if you’re a first-time earner or a student needing affordable medical aid cover in South Africa. Even though it’s an entry-level medical aid plan, you get hospital and day-to-day cover and chronic illness benefits when you use the network providers.

This is a specific network of private hospitals that you can select for your hospitalisation cover.

Ingwe Network of hospitals

Save on your monthly contributions by using a specific network of private hospitals.

Any private hospital

These are private hospitals within South Africa.

Chronic and Day-to-day Benefits

For chronic treatment and Day-to-day Benefits, such as GP visits or prescribed medicine, you need to use:

Ingwe Primary Care Network

If you choose Ingwe Network your provider for Chronic and Day-to-day Benefits is Ingwe Primary Care Network .

Ingwe Active Network

If you choose Any private hospital, your Chronic and Day-to-day Benefits provider is Ingwe Active Network .

Connect Network hospitals

If you choose Connect Network hospitals, benefits are available from State facilities, unless otherwise indicated.

Health Platform Benefits

Health Platform Benefits are only available from your chosen Primary Care Network provider, except for health assessments, maternity programme benefits and baby immunisations, which are available at any healthcare provider. If you choose the Connect Network, you can access Health Platform benefits from any provider.

Ingwe Primary Care Network

If you choose Ingwe Network your Health Platform Benefits provider is Ingwe Primary Care Network .

Ingwe Active Network

If you choose Any private hospitals, your Health Platform Benefits provider is Ingwe Active Network .

Connect Network hospitals

If you choose Connect Network hospitals, benefits are available from State facilities, unless otherwise indicated.

What does the Ingwe
Option cover?

In-hospital Benefit

This benefit covers hospitalisation and some out-of-hospital procedures or treatments that can be safely performed in a doctor's room, registered day hospital, or out-patient facility.

Hospital choice

Providers

Any private hospital, Ingwe Network of hospitals or Connect Network hospitals.

Hospitalisation

Benefit

Hospital accounts are covered in full at the rate agreed upon with the hospital group.
Accounts for specialists are covered up to 100% of the Momentum Medical Scheme Rate.

Maternity confinements

No annual limit applies.

Caesarean section

Emergency caesareans are covered.

Neonatal intensive care

No annual limit applies.

Organ transplant

If you choose Connect Network hospitals, benefits are limited to Prescribed Minimum Benefits at Connect Network hospitals. If you choose Ingwe Network hospitals or Any hospital, benefits are limited to Prescribed Minimum Benefits* at State facilities.

MRI and CT scans, magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography, whole body radioisotope and PET scans.

If you choose Connect Network hospitals, MRI and CT scans are limited to Prescribed Minimum Benefits* at Connect Network hospitals and other specialised scans are subject to Prescribed Minimum Benefits at State facilities. If you choose Ingwe Network hospitals or Any hospital, all scans are limited to Prescribed Minimum Benefits at State facilities.

Medical rehabilitation and step-down facilities

Limited to R16 700 per beneficiary every year.

Health management programmes for conditions such as HIV/Aids

Your doctor needs to register you on the appropriate health management programme.

Immune deficiency related to HIV

Anti-retroviral treatment: R40 500 per family at preferred provider.
HIV-related hospital admissions: R41 000 per family at your chosen hospital provider.

Emergency medical transport in South Africa by Netcare 911

No annual limit applies.

Take-home medication

7 days’ supply.

Unlimited GP visits.

Unlimited GP visits
From the 11^th visit onwards, you’ll need pre-authorisation from the Scheme for it to be covered.
You also get 3 virtual doctor consultations per beneficiary per year from the GP Virtual Consultation Network, which includes Hello Doctor. Consultations include scripting of medication where required.

Eye care

1 standard eye test.
1 pair of clear standard or bi-focal lenses with a standard frame.
Benefits available per beneficiary every 2 years.

Dentistry

1 consultation per beneficiary every year, plus extractions, fillings, and x-rays.
Specialised dentistry, such as braces, is not covered by the Scheme.

Medicine

Prescribed medication is subject to a list of medicine . referred to as the prescribed formulary.

Mental health

Limited to Prescribed Minimum Benefits* at State facilities.

Specialist visits

2 visits per family every year.
Limited to R1 350 per visit and up to a maximum of R2 700 per family per year.
Covered at 100% of the Momentum Medical Scheme Rate.

⁺Momentum Medical Scheme members may choose to make use of additional products available from Momentum Group Limited and its subsidiaries as well as Momentum Multiply (herein collectively referred to as Momentum). Momentum is not a medical scheme and is a separate entity to Momentum Medical Scheme. Momentum products are not medical scheme benefits. You may be a member of Momentum Medical Scheme without taking any of the products offered by Momentum.

Health Platform Benefit

A unique benefit that encourages health awareness, enhances the quality of life, and gives peace of mind through preventative care, early detection tests, and health education and advice.

Benefit

Preventative care includes:

baby immunisations covered in private facilities for baby’s 1^st year up to R2 950,
flu vaccines,
tetanus-diphtheria injections, and more.

Early detection tests include:

pap smears,
dental consultations,
general physical examinations,
prostate specific antigens,
health assessments,
cholesterol tests,
blood sugar tests,
HIV tests, and other tests.

Maternity programme

7 antenatal visits which include:

a urine test,
certain antenatal pathology tests,
1 paediatrician visit in baby's 1^st year,
2 pregnancy scans, and
a nurse home visit after returning home from the hospital.
